Clenching & Teeth Grinding

Teeth grinding, also known as bruxism, is an involuntary habit of grinding or clenching the teeth, often during sleep. This condition can lead to a range of problems, including jaw pain, headaches, tooth damage, dental erosion, and temporomandibular joint (TMJ) disorders.

The Masseter muscle, responsible for chewing, is the primary muscle involved in these unconscious habits. Over time, repeated use strengthens this muscle, causing it to enlarge. This can alter the natural shape of the face, creating a more pronounced or square jawline.

This muscle is responsible for tenderness on the sides of the face alongside wearing down the teeth at a faster rate. Wear down teeth can cause long term irreversible damage such as shorter looking teeth, yellow teeth, sensitivity, flatter teeth that are more prone to chipping.

By treating this muscle, over a period of time the muscle relaxes. Long term, reducing the tenderness and other symptoms related to clenching and grinding, alongside reducing and slowing down the rate at which teeth are being worn down.
